El-Rufai Accuses Yero of Squandering N10bn on Govt House Complex
Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has accused his
predecessor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, of squandering N10 billion on the
Kaduna new Government House complex.
Speaking yesterday at the opening of the Kaduna State Healthcare Summit, El-Rufai said the money should have been channelled towards the development of the state's health sector and what he described as other critical areas.

Boko Haram: U.S pledges $5m contribution to troops
United States has pledged a $5million contribution to the Nigeria led Multinational Joint Task force fighting Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast and some parts of the West Africa sub-region.
The U.S embassy in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday said it announced $5million contribution and not $10million as reported by the media.

responding to a question said: “We have been working with Nigeria, as well as the other countries in the region, to address their concerns about Boko Haram. This is because we don’t see this as just a Nigeria problem.
Man, 51, remanded for raping NYSC member to death
An Ilorin Magistrate Court has remanded a 51 year old man for allegedly raping a youth corps member to death in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
The late youth corps member, Idowu Yetunde Shukurat was a member of the 2014 batch B set in the state.
She was serving with the state broadcasting corporation (Radio Kwara) Ilorin, before her demise.
Late Yetunde’s corpse was reportedly found about a month ago around Government Residential Area (GRA) Ilorin.

Dino Melaye Slams Senators Over N8.64 Billion Wardrobe Allowance
Senator Dino Melaye, the Senator representing Kogi West, has condemned
the N8.64 billion the National Assembly has earmarked as wardrobe
allowance for the 109 Senators and 360 members of the House of
Representatives, while at the same time, defending the emergence of
Senator Bukola Saraki as the President of the Nigerian Senate.

Boko Haram Suspects Escape Arrest (See)
Two Boko Haram suspects escaped arrest after a gun battle
between them and a team of joint security operatives.
Leadership reports that the battle that led to the death of
one of the operatives ensued on June 7, Sunday, in Kaduna.
An anonymous eyewitness, who is a neighbour to the residence
of the Boko Haram suspects, said that the security personnel raided the area at
about 1 am yesterday when the territory became saturated with gun-shots that
lasted for hours.
The incidence reportedly happened at Ungwan Keke-B village
in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state.
According to the eyewitness, although the suspects escaped,
their wives were arrested and taken to an unknown destination by the
security operatives.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has requested an electoral fraud investigation against Mrs. Gesila Khan, who is the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), , and her Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Barr. Austin Eni Okojie.

The U.S. Marshals Service issued federal arrest warrants Sunday for two
convicted killers who escaped from a maximum security prison in upstate
New York over the weekend.
The warrants charge Richard Matt and David Sweat with unlawful flight to
avoid prosecution, according to William O'Toole, a U.S. Marshals
Service spokesman. The warrants clear the way for the federal
government to involve its considerable resources in the manhunt.
Matt, 49, and Sweat, 35, who were both serving life sentences for
vicious murders, emerged through a manhole cover 200 metres from the
prison walls and made off into the night. The pair were discovered
missing from their cells Saturday morning during a "standing count" of
inmates at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York,
state police said.
