7 Illegal Refinaries Taken Down By Navy In Warri (See)

Aliyu Sule, the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship, Delta, has revealed that his command has taken down seven illegal efineries in Oteghele community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta.

The facts was revealed today in Warri Naval Base, while attended to reporters immediately after the operation.

Sule revealed that the command had made waste of 500 metric tonnes of crude oil which they discovered during the four hour operation.

“This is just to send signal to the perpetrators that there will be no vacuum between my tenure and my predecessor’s.

“We got intelligence report that there were illegal refineries in the area and we sent officers to conduct research before carrying out the operation.

“People say unemployment is responsible for the illegal oil bunkering, but I think lack of job should not motivate them to engage in such illegalities,’’ he said.

Sule said that the criminals are becoming smarter in the way and method they operate but he reiterated that the Navy was still capable of countering their antics.

“The mode of the illegal oil bunkering is becoming sophisticated and we have to change our strategies to counter it.

The distance of the hose they use is about three kilometres from the various illegal refineries; you can imagine where they are going to,” he said.

Sule then added that the command will never reduce their efforts in sanitising the waterways under his watch from all kinds of crime and told all illegal operators to quit their ways and move on other lawful ventures rather than sabotaging the nation’s economy.

The recent victory by the Nigerian Navy will boost the Federal Government morale after the FG recently canceled all security contracts it had with ethnic minorities to secure the pipelines.
