Defense Headquarter Denies Cameroon's Airstrike On Boko Haram

The Nigerian Defense headquarters has denied the operation of any foreign force in any part of the country.

Following the reports that the Cameroon Army carried out an attack against Boko Haram along the border it shares with Nigeria, Cameroon’s Information Minister, Issa Tchiroma, disclosed on Monday, December 29, that Cameroon’s army had killed at least 41 militants as it fought off a wave of attacks along its border with Nigeria in an escalation in the conflict,

A couple, Ruby Stephens, 23, and Roy Stephens, 48, of Indiana have been charged with first-degree murder for neglecting their 22-day-old baby to die of hunger while strapped in her car seat at the back of their car while they went in to eat at a Florida restaurant.

The mother who came out hours later to check the baby, found out she was completely unresponsive and cold to the touch and called 911.

The police later arrested the couple and the mother confessed she had strictly breastfed the baby every two-three hours on their long trip to Florida.

Jonathan will win 2015 election – Dickson

                   The Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Seriake Dickson, has predicted victory for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election.
                   The governor also urged voters in the state to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and get ready for the general election.
                      Dickson further appealed to the people of the state to pray for the Jonathan-led Federal Government to overcome the difficult circumstances facing the administration.
He spoke on Monday at the last edition of the state’s monthly praise night at the King of Glory Chapel, Government House, Yenagoa.

BENIN—CONTRARY to fears in some quarters that the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, may probe past corrupt political office holders if elected into office in the next presidential election, the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has hinted that a Buhari presidency will not dig into the past, but will concentrate on the future.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 22-year-old Oluwaropo Tifase, for allegedly killing his father, Moses Tifase, in the Mile 2 area of the state.
Punch Metro learnt that Oluwaropo, who is the fifth child and only son of the family, had had clashes with his parents in the past over financial issues.According to the police, Oluwaropo, a suspected cultist, was rusticated from a university in Ondo State, a few years ago for some cult-related offences.

The Federal Government is set to sponsor 100 first class graduates for further studies abroad, Minister for Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has revealed.
Shekarau who spoke on Sunday in Kano during a media interaction and an awards ceremony said the100 first class materials would be sponsored under the Special Presidential Scholarship Programme.

According to him, President Goodluck Jonathan has instructed the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) to select the best graduates and secure admissions for them to study up to doctorate level in universities abroad.Shekarau said the first batch had been screened and would soon leave the country to study in the best 25 universities in the world.

The minister said as part of the government’s effort to provide Nigerians qualitative education some university lecturers have also been sponsored for various training locally and abroad

The police have arrested four suspected robbers at a Lagos market who claimed they did not steal from the traders, but only came to collect their dues.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects- Onyenge Osanie, Azuka Eboh, Ezelonwu Michael and Afolabi Shakiru- were nabbed by the police while they were looting some shops and robbing traders at the Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos.

Wife of Oba Lumure Ayelomi of Ayeka in Okitipupa area of Ondo State, Olori Dupe has been found dead 10 days after she was reportedly kidnapped.

It was learnt that she was allegedly murdered after her abductors collected N2 million ransom from the monarch. Her corpse was reportedly found where her abductors asked the family to bring the ransom to.

It was gathered that the Olori was abducted by five kidnappers at her residence along Erinje Road, Okitipupa. the abductors, who later contacted the family two days after she was abducted, demanded for N30 million.

Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, on Monday, said a plot by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to form an interim government has been uncovered.
The minister said this in Lagos at the launch of a book titled, ‘Watch the Watcher,’ written by an activist, Yinka Odumakin, in reaction to Obasanjo’s controversial book, ‘My Watch’.

                        A young woman who killed her baby daughter appeared at Kwamhlanga Magistrates Court, Mpumalanga, South Africa.
                         The 27-year-old woman, whose name is not disclosed, appeared in court charged with the murder of a five-months-old baby. Trying to justify her actions a young mother claimed that her daughter repeatedly turned into a python trying to swallow her alive.
                    These alleged transformations made the woman threw her own baby into a pit toilet, where the innocent girl died. Later the woman confessed that she had heard voices telling her “to take the baby back to the waters she had come from”.

My Certificates Are Burnt – Sambo Tells INEC

Vice President Namadi Sambo has told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that his certificates (Bachelors and Masters degrees certificates in Architecture from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria) were burnt in an unfortunate fire.
Sambo revealed this through documents he filed to the INEC, explaining the lack of documents but failed to mention details of the fire that consumed the certificates.
Sambo’s documents arrived to INEC headquarters between December 10 and 18, 2014, and was stamped.

                     A mother of 2 died at the age of 38 after her long-term unsuccessful battle with alcohol addiction.

                     Vicky White was drinking 330 units of alcohol weekly, including five bottles of wine a day and vodka for breakfast, Daily Mail reports.
                     Vicky’s partner Steven Hough devastated over the loss said she had tried hard to stop, but was always subdued by the addiction. The two children, aged 7 and 17, are spending their first Christmas without mother who died in July from liver failure.

The latest report round the media says Chelsea and Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Obi is building a mini estate in the Ajah/Badore new development area of Lagos.                   The police in Edo State has arrested an 85-year old man for allegedly defiling a seven- year old girl at Use, Ogida quarters in Egor local government area of the state.
                   The Nation gathered that the case which was earlier reported at the Ogida Police Division has been transferred to the police headquarters for further investigation.
                        The mother of the victim, Endurance Ogieva, a rice hawker, alleged that she was offered N1million by relatives of the suspect for the case to the withdrawn.
In a chat with journalists at the police station, Mrs. Ogieva said the act was committed at the residence of the suspect where she left her children with her sister.
