Nigerian celebrities visited an opening party of an advocacy group,
Enough is Enough Nigeria (EiE Nigeria), where the plans for the debate
series of the forthcoming 2015 general elections were announced.
The
series, ‘The People’s Debate’, would be held ahead of the February
general elections. These debate series has been created to position
voters at the centre of the democratic process by reinforcing the
narrative that elections and governance are about the people.
According to the NET, popular broadcaster, Funmi
Iyanda, said: “This platform is meant to constitute itself into an
effective opposition to governance, not just at the point of election
but throughout their terms in office.”
Reportedly, Channels TV
boss, John Momoh, will moderate the Presidential Debate that is
scheduled for Sunday, February 1, 2015 in Abuja. It will be broadcast
live on Channels TV and streamed live on Nigeria Info 99.3 FM and online
via a Google Hangout as well as on Youtube.
It was learnt that
EiE will co-host 6 governorship debates in each geo-political zone:
Lagos, Rivers, Imo, Kaduna, Taraba & Plateau, with the first one
being in Plateau tomorrow, Saturday, January 24, 2015 with the APC, LP
& PDP candidates billed to be present.
General Manager of
Channels TV, Kayode Akintemi, 2Face Idibia and his wife, Annie Idibia,
Kemi Lala Akindoju among others were present at the unveiling event.
