In the last one week, the ambassadors who have identified with, and also undergoing enrolment procedures to NEIHIS have been involved in the shooting of Public Service Announcements (PSA) for the scheme.
The PSAs are meant to feature prominently on partner television and radio stations with a view to educating practitioners about the scheme and encourage mass enrolment.

Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the President and founder of the Living Faith Church worldwide, also Known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, which has gone viral.

Contrary to the insinuation by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, jailed the first civilian governor of Ondo State, Chief Adekunle Ajasin, his family has said Buhari’s military government only detained the late Afenifere leader and was later released after interrogation.

Displaced residents of Monguno, in Borno State, which was recently taken over by Boko Haram, have said they saw helicopters dropping arms and food items for the insurgents in the bushes.

Lagos State Government has said that it will deploy 500 officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to mange vehicular traffic at Friday’s presidential campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The state’s Commissioner for Transportation, Comrade Kayode Opeifa, in a statement released on Thursday, said the rally is expected to attract huge human and vehicular traffic around Lagos especially along Funsho Williams, Eko Bridge, Ikorodu Road, entire Surulere and the Teslim Balogun Stadium, venue of the rally.

The Economic and Fiunacial Crimes Commission, EFCC, recorded its first conviction for 2015 on Wednesday January 28, 2015 as Justice A. Ongetenu of the Federal High Court Abakaliki, Ebonyi State convicted and sentenced one Monday Agha to 10 years imprisonment for offences bordering on conspiracy, impersonation and obtaining money by false pretence.
Agha, who was arraigned on July 20, 2013, allegedly fraudulently opened several accounts in different banks using fictitious names with which he conspired with one Moses to defraud some unsuspecting victims.

Mr Goran Sluiter, a Dutch lawyer called the International Criminal Court to investigate Nigeria’s presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhamadu Buhari, over the 2011 post elections violence that claimed hundreds of lives,channelstv reports.
The lawyer and a group known as Northern Coalition For Democracy, told a news conference in Abuja that there are evidence at their disposal that indicts Gen. Buhari over the violence.
The group hinged its action on the need to prevent violence similar to the 2015 general elections.

                     A 69-year old widow has narrated how she lost her six children within four years after the death of her husband in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
                      The widow, Mrs. Alice Ashodu Peter also revealed that her only surviving son, Eyitayomioluwa Peter, popularly called Abuna, was shot dead last week at Agege during a political scuffle.
                      The late Eyitayomioluwa, 40, was a well known member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Agege before his untimely death.

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday restrained five telecoms firms from suspending All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign fund-raising platform.
Justice Ibrahim Buba made the ex-parte order following the party’s motion.
The judge made an order of interim injunction restraining Etisalat, MTN, Glo, Airtel and Visafone from giving effect to a directive by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) which warned them against running political promotions that will portray them as being partisan.
The judge ordered the telecoms firms “to continue to run, operate and/or restore to its full operative use the SMS Code platform 35350 created for fund-raising for the applicant’s presidential campaign.”
The orders are to subsist pending the hearing and determination of APC’s originating motion on notice.
The court also granted APC leave to serve the originating motion on notice and other processes on NCC (the first defendant) outside the court’s jurisdiction.

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday disclosed that only 2.3 million Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) have been collected in Lagos, appealing to registered voters to go and collect their cards.
The state’s Resident Electoral Commission, Akin Orebiyi, who made the disclosure at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Nigeria Police Force towards a successful conduct of the forthcoming general election, said the state was among those with low turnout in PVC collection.
Orebiyi stated that four million PVCs were made available for the 5.9 million registered voters in the state last year, but only 2.3 million have been collected.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has disqualified 7 governorship aspirants. The 7 aspirants were disqualified for failing to nominate their running mates.

According to Vanguard, the parties and the states affected by the disqualification according to the INEC, are;

the Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, in Delta State; Labour Party, LP, in Niger State and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in Ogun State. Others are the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, in Oyo state; United Democratic Party, UDP, in Rivers State; and Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, in Sokoto and Zamfara states respectively.

Imo students deny involvement in demolition of govt. property

The National Union of Imo State Students (NUISS), Tuesday absolved its members of complicity in the crisis that broke out during the solidarity rally for the State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, which left many wounded and millions of naira worth of properties destroyed.
The students’ body also tendered an unreserved apology to the Imo Governor for the ‘embarrassment’ the incident may have caused his office, disclosing that hoodlums sponsored by opposition parties infiltrated the rally and incited the crisis.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said it garnered 126 convictions last year.
This was a significant improvement from that of 2013 when it recorded 117 convictions.
The commission said that contrary to insinuations in some quarters that the war against graft had been compromised under President Goodluck Jonathan, no fewer than 243 convictions have been recorded in the past two years.
