The Ogun Police State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected armed robbers who residents of Akute have alleged to have been of terrorising their area.
According to police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, the suspects, who were identified as John David and Bassey James, were said to have recently robbed residents of Heritage Estate, Akute, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, of their valuables with a toy gun.
Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, stated that luck ran out of the notorious robbers as they were arrested during another operation less than 24 hours after initial robbery incident.
“The Anti-Crime Police team attached to Ajuwon Division of the Ogun State Police Command arrested some suspected armed robbers 24 hours after they carried out robbery operations on Saturday December 13.

“The suspects were arrested on Sunday at about 10.30pm in the Akute area when they were trying to carry out another operation several hours after the previous robbery operation in the same area.
“In the course of police investigation, most of the victims of their robbery operations identified the suspected robbers as those who had been involved in several robbery operations and those who actually robbed them at the night of Saturday December 13,” he told newsmen on Wednesday.
Adejobi informed that the state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, had directed that the suspects be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a thorough investigation.
“The command will not leave any stone unturned in providing adequate security for all and sundry in Ogun State,” he posited.
It would be recalled that two teenage boys in Israel accused of trying to rob a bank with their toy guns appeared in court recently.
According to Skynews report, the boys, aged 12 and 13, wore hooded caps and stormed the bank premises shouting, “this is a hold-up.”
The boys were carrying fake M-16 assault rifles, Police spokesman Micky Rosenfield said.
He added: “They were toy guns but they looked real. The people in the bank were scared, but then the suspects ran out without taking any money.”
